What is Old Color Images?
We're a small family business based in the USA and we've been selling prints of our historic color images for over 10 years, along with supplying digital photography to numerous global organizations. Our photos have appeared in many high profile publications.
We specialize in photographs captured on film from the 1950s to the 1990s and we mostly steer clear of typical mountain and scenery shots. Our preference lies in showcasing the transformations that have occurred over the years so you'll discover vibrant street scenes, vanished stores, diverse cars, iconic fashions, and various modes of transportation.
Old Color Images is a new venture designed to make it easier to browse and purchase prints from our collection. We only went online in 2023 so it'll take some time to get everything uploaded, so check back often for the latest updates. We'll eventually have several thousand images available to purchase.

How are your prints made?
The high-resolution image is printed onto a canvas substrate using archival-quality inks
and then hand stretched over a 3/4" (19mm) thick wood frame and stapled on the back. Both the canvas and the frame are sustainably sourced using FSC-certified materials. The edges of the print contain a mirrored image of the photo. Hanging kits are provided and, depending on the production partner, might arrive already attached to the frame. W
e ship our canvas prints in protective packaging and sturdy boxes.
Can I order your prints on something other than canvas?
Yes, we can supply any of our images on a wide variety of formats including posters, foam board, wood framed prints and metal prints. In addition we can also print our images on a wide variety of clothing and household items. Please don't hesitate to contact us for a no-obligation quote. We ship worldwide.
Do you really offer free worldwide delivery?
Yes, our prints are made to order and we work with a company that owns a number of worldwide photo labs, each with the same consistent high standards and quality control. If you're in the US your print will be made and delivered from our US lab. If you're in the UK your print will be made and delivered from our UK lab. We also have facilities in the EU, Australia, Canada, South America and Asia. A lot of our customers receive a print made in their own country, usually within 7 to 10 days of ordering.
Producing our prints locally dramatically reduces waste, carbon emissions and delivery times whilst providing valuable local employment.
Where do these old photos come from?
We've been buying and collecting vintage color images for over 20 years and we scan everything ourselves directly from the original historic negative or transparency. The vast majority of our images are exclusive to us and not available anywhere else.
Do you use AI to create images?
No, we believe in preserving the historical accuracy of the past and we only use authentic color photography. We also don't colorize black and white images so the colors you see on our prints are all genuine.
How do I navigate your site?
We've grouped all our images into different albums based on era, location and subject which allows for relaxed browsing but if you're in a hurry then use our search function for instant results. All of our photos have been identified, tagged and dated.
Do you offer bulk discounts?
Yes, our prints are popular with the hospitality industry and make awesome wall art for hotels and restaurants looking to decorate with scenic vistas or prints with a local flavor. Buy 10 or more prints - any combination of sizes - and receive a 15% discount which will automatically be applied at checkout.
What happens if I'm not happy with my print?
Our goal is to ensure that everyone has a great experience. Our photo labs have wonderful quality control but occasionally things may go wrong. Please don't hesitate to contact us to discuss any concerns you may have so that we can make it right.
How many photos do you have in your archive?
We have around 15,000 vintage images in our archive from 30 different countries but we currently only have a small selection online. We'll be adding lots more over the coming months.
